Order of Kata
Mae Geri

 

Professor Georgiou created Mae Geri to encourage the use of the front kick as a primary counter attack technique. This is a beginner's kata. The kata, although basic in technique, personifies Professor Georgiou's philosophy of self defense:   «...all you'll ever need to defend yourself is the front punch and the front kick.»

 

  1. Break out to the L at 90 degree in L Sanchin w/L mid-block;
  2. R Front Kick, move into R Zenkutsu w/R mid-punch;
  3. Move back into horse stance executing a L lower punch;
  4. Move up 180 degrees into R Sanchin w/R mid-block;
  5. L Front kick, move into L Zenkutsu w/L mid-punch;
  6. Repeat # 3 in reverse;
  7. Turn at 90 degrees to the L into Sanchin w/L mid-block;
  8. R Front Kick move into R Zenkutsu w/R mid-punch;
  9. L Front Kick move into L Zenkutsu w/L mid-punch;
  10. R Front kick move into R Zenkutsu w/R mid-punch;
  11. Mowate w/R foot 180 degrees w/R reverse strike, into L Zenkutsu w/L punch;
  12. Repeat 8-10;
  13. Repeat 11;
  14. Yame (Back)
