Order of Kata
Hiji-Te

 

Professor Georgiou created Hiji-Te in 1998. This is a beginner's kata. It is intended to promote the utilization of the hiji strike in combination w/the front kick and the kansetsu kick. It is also done in preparation for advanced kata, i.e. Sanseru.

 

  1. Breaking out to a 90 degree (left) Sanchin L Chudan block;
  2. R Front kick into R Zenkutsu into R Hiji (to chin) L Seiken suki and retract;
  3. Drag R foot back into 90 degree Shiko dachi and perform L Geidan Barai;
  4. Repeat steps 1 - 3 on opposite side;
  5. Drag/SlideL foot into L Sanchin w/L Chudan Uke at streight ahead;
  6. R Mae Geri, into R Zenkutsu dachi w/R Hiji and L Seiken w/quick retraction;
  7. Repeat step 6 on opposide side (while moving forward);
  8. Repeat step 7 on the opposite side;
  9. Retract R Foot from the Zenkutsu dachi and execute a quick R Kensetsu Geri to the front while samulteneously performing a 180 degree mowate into L sided Sanchin Dachi w/L Chudan uke;
  10. Repeat steps 6 - 8;
  11. Repeat step 9;
  12. Yame.
